Cicero Cop Returns Home Less Than A Week After He Was Shot

Luis Duarte is at home and doing well just days after he was shot several times during an investigation in Chicago.

CICERO, IL - Cicero Police Officer Luis Duarte, who was shot last week in an armed confrontation with a suspect near a Stevenson Expressway exit on the South Side of Chicago, is at home and doing well in recovery. Town of Cicero officials said Duarte was released from Mount Sinai Hospital on Tuesday.

Operations to remove bullets and repairing injuries to his arm and leg were successful, officials said. Initial reports indicated Duarte had been shot several times by a suspect while working an investigation with Chicago police.

Daniel Mageo, a 27-year-old Long Beach, California man, has been charged with attempted murder in the shooting of Duarte.
