Concordia Chicago's Wind Symphony to Play Free Post-Tour Concert
The concert will take place March 13 at 8 p.m. in the University's Chapel of Our Lord.

The Concordia University Chicago Wind Symphony will present a concert on Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m. in the University’s Chapel of Our Lord. Admission is free. The performance will cap off the Wind Symphony’s 10-day concert tour of Florida.
The concert, which is open to the public, will feature CUC adjunct professor Thomas Stark on trombone performing the “T-Bone Concerto” by Dutch composer Johan de Meij. Stark is a trombonist with the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and principal trombonist with the Northwest Indiana Symphony and Elmhurst Symphony. He performs frequently with Lyric Opera of Chicago, Milwaukee Symphony and Chicago Philharmonic.

Other works that the Wind Symphony will perform include “Joyride” by Michael Markowski, “An Original Suite” by Gordon Jacob, “Riverdance” by Bill Whelan (arranged by Johan de Meij), the “Short Symphony” (Give Us This Day) by David Maslanka and “Galop” from “Genevieve de Brabant” by Jacques Offenbach.
The on-campus concert follows the recording in February of the Wind Symphony’s 14th CD, titled “Banners of Concord.”

The CUC Wind Symphony maintains an active performance schedule, having performed in schools, churches and concert halls in 43 states, Canada, Eastern Europe and China. The Wind Symphony is conducted by Dr. Richard R. Fischer, distinguished professor of music and the Fred and Jane Wittlinger Endowed Chair in Music Performance. Fischer is a River Forest resident in his 41styear as director of bands at Concordia University Chicago.
The Concordia-Chicago campus is located at 7400 Augusta Street, River Forest, IL. Free handicapped-accessible parking is available in the visitors’ lot north of the University parking structure on Bonnie Brae Street.
