OAK PARK, IL — A Chicago juvenile was arrested Monday for an alleged hit-and-rob carjacking in Oak Park after a police chase that started near the North Riverside Park Mall and ended in Chicago. Police say four suspects fled from the vehicle and two were caught after a traffic helicopter told police they spotted the suspects running into a house on Gladys Ave.
The chase started around 5 p.m. after a woman's car was stolen in the 900 block of Elmwood Ave. in Oak Park. The victim told police her car had been rear-ended by a car with four men in it. She said two of the men got out, demanded she turn over her car, and stole her purse before fleeing with her vehicle.
North Riverside Police reportedly saw the stolen car not far from the North Riverside Mall and began pursuing the vehicle. The suspects stopped in the 4700 block of Gladys Ave., got out of the car, and fled on foot, police say.
