Downtown Oak Park teams up with the Oak Park Arts District to transform Marion Street into a European art festival for Thursday Night Out’s Art dans la Rue (Art in the Street). Art dans la Rue will take place Thursday, August 9th from 5-9pm in Downtown Oak Park at Lake Street, Marion Street & North Blvd.
Local artists will line Marion Street to display their works available for purchase. Francophiles are encouraged to embrace the European lifestyle by dining al fresco with their favorite Thursday Night Out dishes while being serenaded by French Cabaret singer, Claudia Hommel from 5-7pm, followed by European jazz ensemble, Yves Francois from 7-9pm. There will also be a special performance by magician extraordinaire, Jeremy Pitt-Payne. Art dans la Rue completes the art festival esthetic with a balloon twister, artistic face painter and a roaming mime. Visit our website for a full entertainment schedule.
Downtown Oak Park will also be hosting our first sidewalk chalk art contest – L’art sur le trottoir (Art on the Sidewalk). Artists will compete to win $100 cash for their chalk masterpieces displayed throughout Downtown Oak Park during Art dans la Rue. A winner will be announced at 8pm, and a people’s choice winner will be selected on August 15th based on most likes of their design’s photo on Downtown Oak Park’s Facebook page.
