Beyond Beading Basics for Young Jewelry Designers

For young bead artists ages ten and up who want to go beyond basic stringing.  Two projects are planned – the first is a wrapped leather bracelet and the second is a netted bracelet.  The leather bracelet is made using leather, string and beads.  The netted bracelet is made with a needle, thread and small glass beads.  For those not wanting a netted bracelet, it could be a small wall hanging.  Design options will be discussed, such as varying widths and textures by using different sizes and shapes of beads, and the use of color for blending and accents.  Due to the complexity of the second project, it may not be finished by the end of the week, but students will have the knowledge to complete the project at home.

For students taking morning classes at Pamela Penney Textile Arts and Majamas, they are welcome to come at noon and eat a bag lunch in our work space.  For more information about those classes, go to Pamela Penney Fashion Design Camp.
