Dominican University presents Ragamala Dance

Dominican University will host award-winning traditional Indian troupe Ragamala Dance for a special performance on Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lund Auditorium on Dominican’s Main Campus, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.

Ragamala Dance’s “Sacred Earth” show blends the ancient visual art traditions of Warli paintings and Kolam rice flour drawings with the classical dance of southern India to create a one-of-a-kind stage show.

The indigenous Warli people of western India craft wall paintings that depict their natural way of life. Combined with traditional southern Indian kolam drawings—intricate designs created on floors with rice flour—the Ragamala stage is transformed into a sacred space invoking a deep connection to the earth.
