Dominican’s Siena Center lecture series opens with reflection on 10th anniversary of 9/11

Dominican University’s Siena Center will open its fall 2011 lecture series on Tuesday, September 6 at 7:00 p.m. with Maryann Cusimano Love, who will discuss the role of interfaith engagement in U.S. foreign policy in the post-9/11 world.

Love’s lecture, “Peace Is Possible. Peace Is Practical,” will reflect upon the role of religious leaders in the global political scene in context of the approaching 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Love, an associate professor of international relations at The Catholic University of America, is a leading academic voice on religious peacebuilding. She is a fellow at the Commission on International Religious Freedom and is a member of the U.S. Catholic Bishops' International Justice and Peace Committee, the advisory board of the Catholic Peacebuilding Network and the board of Jesuit Refugee Services.

An award-winning columnist for America magazine, she is the author of Beyond Sovereignty: Issues for Global Agenda and Morality Matters: Ethics and the War on Terrorism. Love earned her bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University, her master’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her PhD from Johns Hopkins University.

The lecture will be held in Dominican’s Priory Auditorium. Admission is $10.
