Dominican University’s Performing Arts Center will host America's premier postclassical string quartet, ETHEL, along with special guest performer Robert Mirabal on Saturday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lund Auditorium on Dominican’s Main Campus, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.
ETHEL, the Julliard-trained string quartet known for blending classical strings with contemporary music, will team up with the Grammy-winning Native American flautist Mirabal to present a program inspired by the sun mythology of Native America. Members of Dominican’s own Noteworthy Show Choir will join the performers on stage for some numbers.
ETHEL bucks the traditional string quartet performance in favor of amplified, improvisational and modern concerts integrating the works of contemporary composers and technology. The group’s performers include Cornelius Dufallo (violin), Ralph Farris (viola), Dorothy Lawson (cello) and Jennifer Choi (violin).

Mirabal will join the quartet with a mastery of traditional Native American flutes and drums for a cross-cultural show including both ETHEL’s original compositions and the works of composers such as Don Byron, John Luther Adams and others.
Tickets for the public are $24, and free on-campus parking for the event is available. For tickets and more information, contact the DUPAC box office at (708) 488-5000 or visit dom.edu/pac.
