Glimpses of Oak Park House Walk

The Historical Society of Oak Park & River Forest will hold its Ninth Annual Housewalk, Glimpses of Oak Park: Then and Now, on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This year’s tour focuses on the Ridgeland-Oak Park Historic District and will spotlight seven houses in the western section of the District.

Featured is the award-winning home of Historical Society President Kelli Kline and her husband Tom who have meticulously restored their 1887 Queen Anne Victorian to the period.  This ten-year restoration has won several awards.

Also open for the first time is the John Seaman House, thought to be the most original Victorian interior still intact today. Built in 1894 and designed by noted local architect H. G. Fiddelke, this imposing Classical Revival mansion captures the architectural style popular following the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago.
