Lake Theatre’s First Tuesday Film Club Presents Award-Winning Film “Elena” Gripping film centered on class division in post-Soviet Russia

Oak Park, IL – Lake Theatre’s First Tuesday Film Club is presenting its next art film – the 2011 Russian drama directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev “Elena” (NR). Slated for Tuesday, September 4th, show times are 12 PM and 7 PM. Movie admission is $6 for matinee shows/seniors and $8.50 for the evening shows. Advance tickets are available online or at the Lake Theatre box office, located at 1022 Lake Street.
Winner of Cannes' Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize, “Elena” is a modern twist on the classic noir thriller. Spouses Vladimir and Elena uneasily share Vladimir’s palatial Moscow apartment. He's a still-virile, wealthy businessman; she's his dowdy former nurse who has clearly "married up." Estranged from his own wild-child daughter, Vladimir openly despises his wife's freeloading son and family. But when a sudden illness and an unexpected reunion threaten the dutiful housewife's potential inheritance, she must hatch a desperate plan. Nika Award for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Actress
