The Oak Park Society of Model Engineers invites you to see your local HO model railroad club action. Join us on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 12:01 p.m. to 5 p.m. in our clubroom on the Lower Level of the Dole Learning Center, 255 Augusta. Admission is free.
Trains will be operating during the Open House. Stop by for a look at what's been built so far and check out plans our Chicago passenger station, Oak Park area, quarry and points west. Operate engines on our portable layout.
We are building a fictional railroad running from Chicago west to Iowa. When completed it will have three levels of operation. The lowest level is a staging area with several yards, the middle level representing Illinois is almost complete, and the imagined top level will represent our railroading Iowa. We use Digital Command Control (DCC) and have utilized a number of adventuresome modeling techniques – computer control, helices, lightweight materials, lighting effects, and more.
