Oscar's Overlooked Film Series: Get Low

With our ongoing film festival we will screen and discuss some the best films of 2010 that did not win Academy Awards. Punch and popcorn will be served. A discussion moderated by a librarian and film historian will follow each screening. On August 10: Get Low, nominated for Best Actor, 100 minutes, directed by Aaron Schneider, 2009. Nominated for 7 awards, this underrated film is highlighted by Robert Duvall's performance as the mysterious 1930s Tennessee hermit who famously threw his own rollicking funeral party while he was still alive. Duvall's acting earned lots of praise, but no Oscar.
