Oak Park Arms Summer Jazz Festival and Monday Night Concert Series kicks off with a performance featuring Rick Shandling’s Jazz Coalition Quartet at 7 p.m. Monday, June 18, at the Oak Park Arms, 408 S. Oak Park Avenue.
Shandling’s musical styles range from mainstream be-bop to contemporary jazz – rock fusion. Shandling is a drummer and composer who is a regularly featured artist on the Chicago area Jazz scene. He hosted the Friday Night Jam Session at the Uptown jazz club The Green Mill for two decades.
Future Summer Jazz concerts will feature pianist Jeremy Kahn, The Kahn Jazz Trio, The Skip Green Quartet and pianist Bobby Schiff.
The Oak Park Arms is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
