The Surprising Purpose of Anger - Institute of Empowering Communication

Anger has an important purpose in emotional well being. Suppressed, it robs us of inner peace and it can turn into resentment, unexpected explosions and physical symptoms. Fueled, it can result in broken relationships, loss of jobs, or worse.

• Learn a step-by-step process to transform anger into calmer feelings
• Discover the needs underlying anger
• Become aware of internal messages that fuel or suppress anger
• Increase awareness of your triggers and learn a way to reduce reactivity
• Discover the cause of anger within yourself, as opposed to the actions of others
• Learn to meet your needs while preserving your relationships

Pre-requisite: Introduction to Nonviolent Communication (NVC) for those new to NVC.  The purpose of this pre-requisite is to maximize learning on the topic of Anger.
