Fire Engulfs Multi-Unit Building, Forces Evacuation In Oak Park

Oak Park fire officials are investigating a fire that forced evacuation in a multi-unit building in the 300 block of Home Avenue Friday.

OAK PARK, IL — Oak Park fire crews battled a blaze that threatened to destroy a multi-unit building Friday afternoon. The fire started on an upper level balcony in the four-story building in the 300 block of Home Avenue and quickly spread to the building's attic.

Oak Park Village Spokesman David Powers told Chicago Tribune that the fire spread to another unit in the building and that some residents were forced to evacuate as a result. It took less than an hour to put out the fire with the help of neighboring fire departments, according to Chicago Tribune.

The cause of this multi-unit fire in Oak Park is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
