Health Monitor Saves Oak Park Man From Armed Robbery: Police
An Oak Park man used the alarm on his health monitor to scare off an armed robber in the 300 block of Taylor Tuesday.

OAK PARK, IL — An Oak Park man used his personal health monitor to save himself from an armed robber Tuesday. According to Oak Park Police, the man was walking on the 300 block of South Taylor Ave. when he was approached by a teen who demanded his money.
The victim told police that the suspect approached him between 5:35 p.m. and 5:47 p.m. and that the suspect had his hand on what looked like a silver handgun in his right pants pocket. Police say the victim pressed the alarm button on his health monitor, which caused the suspect to flee eastbound on Washington.
The victim described the suspect as a black male in his late teens, weighing roughly 115 pounds. At the time of the attempted armed robbery, the suspect was wearing dark clothing. No further description was provided.
