Intrigue with the Royals Next Installment of Lake's Monthly Film Series

Two showings of Danish film A Royal Affair on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

A secret affair between a young queen and the physician of her insane husband and its impact on Danish history will be the next offering of the Tuesday film series at the Lake Theater, 1022 Lake St.

This month's selection, A Royal Affair will be presented at noon and 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 for matinees and seniors and $8.50 for the evening performance.

Set in 18th century Denmark, A Royal Affair takes place at the court of the mentally ill King Christian VII of Denmark. The film focuses on the romance between the queen and the king's royal physician Struensee, who wound up the power behind the throne at a critical moment in that nation's history.
