Man Allegedly Sold Drugs Out Of Convenience Store He Managed: Oak Park Police

Edgar Lucas, 55, of the 300 block of Latrobe Ave. in Chicago, is accused of selling heroin during his shifts at Austin Pantry in Oak Park.

OAK PARK, IL — A Chicago man is accused of selling heroin out of a convenience store he managed in Oak Park, police say. Edgar Lucas, 55, of the 300 block of Latrobe Avenue in Chicago is charged with 17 felony counts that include unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1000 ft. of a school for drug sales that allegedly took place at Austin Pantry at 1 Chicago Ave. in Oak Park.

According to police, Lucas had been selling drugs during his shifts at Austin Pantry since July. Lucas was arrested inside the store on August 30. When police took Lucas into custody, he had drugs in his possession with an intent to sell, Chicago Tribune reports.

Lucas is currently being held in Cook County Jail on $50,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's website. He is set to appear in court again on Sept. 22.

After police arrested Lucas for the alleged drug sales at Austin Pantry, village officials closed the convenience store indefinitely.
