Man Flashes Gun, Steals BMW In Broad Daylight: Oak Park Police

OAK PARK, IL — An armed suspect approached a BMW from behind and demanded the victims, "Get out of the car," during a carjacking in Oak Park Saturday. Police say the incident took place in the 700 block of South Elmwood Saturday at approximately 7:20 p.m.

The driver and a passenger were heading northbound on Elmwood when a man came up to the back of their 2016 BMW X3 and demanded that they get out of the car, police said. The man then said, "Do you have any money?," prompting the driver to had him $20. According to police, the suspect flashed the handle of a black handgun in his left pants pocket and again demanded that they get out of the car. The driver and passenger got out and the suspect got into the car and fled north on Elmwood.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, approximately 5'10" tall, with a thin build. During the time of the carjacking, he was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, according the description the victim gave police.
