Men Ask for Directions, Nab Cellphone, Drive Off In Oak Park: Police

OAK PARK, IL — Two men stopped a pedestrian to ask for directions before stealing the victim's cellphone and driving away last Friday, according to Oak Park Police. Police said the men were driving a dark gray older model Toyota Corolla when they approached the victim in the 100 block of Fillmore around 10:45 p.m. on June 2.

Police said as one suspect asked for directions, the other reached out from the vehicle to grab the victim's iPhone, which is valued at $800. The pair then allegedly drove away, heading eastbound on Fillmore from Lyman Avenue.

According to police, the suspects are described as a black male in his 30s and a second black male whose age range was not specified.
