Mike Michowski has resigned as the principal of Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School to take an elementary school position in another district. The District 97 Board of Education accepted his resignation on April 14, 2015, and his last day will be June 30, 2015. The search for the new principal at Brooks will begin immediately.

I want to thank Mike Michowski for his dedicated service to Brooks Middle School and District 97 during the past three years. Through his hard work, passionate commitment to education and tireless advocacy for children, Mike has helped our youngsters become knowledgeable, respectful and responsible global citizens. We appreciate everything he has done on behalf of the families we serve, and wish him all the best in his new position.

The search for the next principal of Brooks will begin immediately. We will keep the community updated on the status of our efforts to fill this important position. We will also work closely and collaboratively with our various stakeholders to identify a candidate who possesses the qualities and characteristics necessary to build on the school’s success and help our students continue to learn, grow and achieve.
