Mosquito Spraying Scheduled for Thursday Evening in Oak Park
Weather permitting, expect to see Desplaines Valley Mosquito Abatement trucks out spraying after 9 p.m. Sept. 8.

OAK PARK, IL -- A second wave of mosquito spraying is scheduled to take place Thursday (Sept. 8) after 9 p.m., weather permitting, to further eliminate mosquitoes that carry West Nile virus.
A calm, rainless evening with temperatures no more than 85 degrees is preferred. Should unfavorable weather conditions prevail, the Des Plaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District will delay spraying and reschedule at a future date.
The mosquito abatement district has been spraying most other communities within its 77-square-mile jurisdiction. West Nile virus continues to turn up in birds and mosquitoes throughout Illinois, including Oak Park. Questions regarding the spraying, including options for those medically sensitive to the insecticide, should be directed to 708-477-1765.

Residents can also sign up for spraying notification through the village at www.oak-park.us/notifyme. Registrants will be notified by automated telephone message, email or text message as soon as possible regarding a decision to spray in Oak Park.
