New River Forest Fire Chief Replaces Eggert After 13 Years

River Forest Fire Department Deputy Chief Kurt Bohlmann replaces Fire Chief James Eggert, who is retiring after 13 years on the force.

RIVER FOREST, IL --- After serving the River Forest Fire Department for 13 years, Chief James Eggert, 62, is hanging up his hat. Deputy Fire Chief Kurt Bohlmann is stepping in to fill his boots as the town's new Fire Chief.

Eggert passed the torch humbly and graciously, according to the an article on the Village of OakPark's website. He thanked his crew, his family, and the village board , saying, "Without their support, I would not be able to accomplish these tasks. This has been an amazing journey and I am proud to have served the wonderful community of River Forest."

In the meantime, Eggert isn't going too far. He is scheduled to stay on as a part-time consultant with the village of Burr Ridge through April 2019.
