OPRF Shakespeare Slam Team Advances to Finals
Their group piece is a five-minute mash-up of seven plays showing the "seven ages of man."

The Shakespeare slam team at Oak Park and River Forest High School has advanced to the finals in the Battle of the Bard competition, sponsored by Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Chicago Youth Shakespeare.
The OPRF team of six students is among the eight teams out of 30 advancing to the finals, which take place May 5 at 6:30 p.m. on Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s main stage (800 E. Grand Ave., Chicago).

The 2015 OPRF Battle of the Bard Slam Team is Sophia Carlin, Kelly Cerniglia, Colin Ford, Dallas Koelling, Jeremey Pesigan, and Olivia Zapater-Charette.

James Bell, the English teacher working with the students, is becoming well-known for his Shakespeare expertise. The work he’s done includes arranging for the first live feed to a high school class from actors at the renowned Shakespeare’s Globe theatre in London, who did a performance and answered students’ questions.
