• MJSA Education Foundation Awards Five 'Future of Jewelry Making' Scholarships Totaling $10,000 (instoremag.com) — An Oak Park student, Lauren Edwards, has earned a share of $10,000 in national "Future of Jewelry Making" scholarships as she finishes her jewelry design degree at Savannah College of Art and Design. The awards, given by the MJSA Education Foundation, support five emerging jewelry makers training at schools across the country.
   

• Illinois law requires culturally competent hair care plans for foster children (abc7chicago.com) — A new Illinois law now requires foster parents to create culturally competent hair care plans, and an Oak Park nonprofit, Styles 4 Kidz, is helping families learn how. At the Oak Park salon, staff teach techniques and product choices that support children's confidence, identity, and well-being, while DCFS prepares added oversight and a statewide support hotline.
