The trio will explain how teaming up early can prevent budget surprises, permitting headaches, and costly change orders, with examples drawn from older Oak Park, River Forest, and Forest Park homes.
   

• Oak Park and River Forest High School board pushes for more diversity among staff, teachers (chicagotribune.com) — Oak Park and River Forest High School leaders are wrestling with how to make faculty diversity better reflect a student body that is nearly half students of color. At a recent District 200 meeting, board members pressed administrators on outreach to Black teachers, hiring trends, and looming retirements, even as they noted rising applicant numbers and steady overall staff retention.
   

• Affordable apartment project opens in Soul City (oakpark.com) — A new 78-unit Austin United Alliance apartment building, led in part by the Oak Park Regional Housing Center, is opening along the Soul City Corridor to provide 50 affordable units for West Side residents. Oak Park trustee Jenna Leving Jacobson and local partners say the project, years in the making, will boost neighborhood stability, property values, and safety while tenants begin moving in later this month.
