Alleged Teen Robber Shot To Death In Oak Park: Police
A 16-year-old Chicago male was killed while attempting to rob a 24-year-old man near Austin and Madison in Oak Park, police said.

OAK PARK, IL — A teenage boy from Chicago was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in Oak Park around 11:15 a.m. Saturday. Police said the incident occurred when the 16-year-old attempted to rob a 24-year-old man at gunpoint in the parking lot of a bank at Austin Boulevard and Madison Avenue. The men exchanged gunfire and the 24-year-old man, who was legally armed, fatally shot the 16-year-old, according to police.
After being shot, the teen entered a waiting car and fled into Chicago. He was taken to John Stroger hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Police are still trying to determine how the juvenile got to Stroger Hospital. An off-duty Chicago police officer detained the robbery victim, who has a valid conceal-and-carry permit and is being questioned in the investigation, according to a statement from police.
Last year, 63 people were wounded and six people were killed in shootings on Memorial Day weekend in Chicago.
