Semi-Automatic Handgun Used To Hijack Car In Oak Park: Police

OAK PARK, IL --- A man threatened a driver with a semi-automatic handgun during a carjacking in Oak Park Friday. Police say the incident took place around 4:38 a.m. in the 1000 block of Hayes Street.

The victim told police that a man approached the vehicle and displayed a semi-automatic handgun while demanding that the victim exit the vehicle. The victim got out of the car and the offender got in and fled northbound on Hayes.

Police are looking for a black 2000 Honda Civic. The offender is described as a black male in his 20s, standing roughly 5'10" with a thin build. During the time of the carjacking, the suspect wore a white t-shirt and black jeans.
