"The difference between a stumbling block and a stepping stone is how you use them." - Unknown

As caregiver's we can choose to face stumbling blocks or stepping stones on a day to day basis, and, the difference is in the caregiver's attitude and perception.

If you see a change in direction, a change in outcome, a change in condition, etc. as an obstacle, then, you are seeing situations as stumbling blocks - they unnerve you, cause inaction, cause frustration, and, in general make you feel 'like you have stubbed your toe and fallen".

If you see a change in direction, a change in outcome, a change in condition, etc. as a situation that needs to be taken into account, and, results in rethinking the direction, then, you are using the situation as a stepping stone - a bridge that leads to a new direction; a direction that needs to be embraced and that will result in new lessons, new actions, new feelings, but, will propel you forward.
