Von Wiese-Mack's Will Filed; Daughter Kept in Solitary Confinement
Chicago lawyer for Heather Mack says Bali authorities may detain him. Her Indonesian lawyer says he's not allowed to meet with her alone.

A Will Has Surfaced: Sheila von Wiese-Mack’s will was filed in Cook County last week by her Oak Park attorney, Lance Taylor. Her daughter, 19-year-old Heather Mack, and the girl’s boyfriend face a possible death penalty in Bali in von Wiese-Mack’s death. Taylor told the Chicago Sun-Times he did estate planning with von Wiese-Mack and her husband James Mack in 2006 but it’s not immediately apparent who will inherit the woman’s estate.
Money in the Bank: Last week, the Sun-Times revealed that Sheila von Wiese-Mack received more than $300,000 in a settlement with Royal Caribbean Cruise lines, and her late husband’s estate received $500,000. The lawsuit was filed in 2001 and settled in 2011. The suit involved a swimming pool injury to James Mack and alleged negligent medical treatment by a cruise ship doctor.

Daughter in Solitary: Heather Mack has been put in solitary confinement, reports the Daily Mail, and her lawyer says she told him: “I don’t know how long I can take this.” Michael Elkin, her Chicago-based attorney, told the Daily Mail he’s put off a trip to Indonesia to meet with Heather because he’s learned authorities in Bali may detain him over allegations he made that Heather was sexually assaulted while behind bars. “It is not that I am concerned for my physical safety more the logistical issues that would arise if I was detained,” he said.
