Westlake Hospital Hosts Affordable Care Act Enrollment Fair

The 2015 deadline to enroll in a health insurance plan through the insurance marketplace under the Affordable Care Act is Feb. 15. Westlake Hospital’s “Honey, We Have Health Insurance!” enrollment fair on Feb. 12 is an opportunity for individuals and families to enroll in an affordable or possibly free health insurance plan. Navigators who speak English and Spanish will be available.

This is an important deadline because individuals who have not obtained 2015 health insurance by Feb. 15 generally won’t be able to buy Marketplace health insurance coverage for this year unless they qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. In addition, those who remain uninsured after Feb. 15 also may have to pay a penalty equal to 2 percent of their income or $325 per adult/$162.50 per child, whichever is more. Advance reservations are strongly recommended; however walk-ins will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Consumers may call (866) 893-8446 to register. Documents needed to enroll:

• Social security numbers for all family members or immigration status documents
• Driver’s license or State ID
• Rental lease or utility bill
• Pay stubs, unemployment, disability, social security or pension/ retirement income.
• Policy numbers for any current health insurance (including job-related coverage)
