What's Open Christmas Day?

Do your taste buds thrive on more than just ham and turkey? Can't do without your daily jolt of java?

Well, you'll be in luck as a few places will be open Tuesday for those folks weary of the usual or who want to try out that new iPad in relative peace and quiet. Some places will be open early to satisfy a craving for a big Sunday breakfast. Some spots will be open late so you can get burgers, sandwiches and sweet and sour chicken.

Here's a look at a few places where you can eat, unwind or escape the holiday madness:

• Starbucks Coffee, 7201 W. Lake St., River Forest, 488-8596, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Starbucks Coffee, 7231 Madison St., Forest Park, 488-1046, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Poor Phil's Shell Bar, 139 S. Marion St., Oak Park, 848-0871, 4 p.m. to midnight. The restaurant will stop serving food at 10 p.m.
• T.G.I. Friday's, 401 N. Harlem Ave., Oak Park, 445-8249, 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• Denny's, 711 N. Harlem Ave., Oak Park, 386-6964, 6 a.m. to midnight.
• Caribou Coffee, 136 N. Oak Park Ave., Oak Park, 445-1196, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Bar Louie, 1122 Lake St., Oak Park, 725-3300, 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
• Lotus Restaurant, 7230 W. North Ave., Suite 210, Elmwood Park, 456-8888, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• The Onion Roll, 6935 North Ave., Oak Park, 383-2548, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Stock up early on those extras for your holiday feast, as Jewel-Osco, Dominick's Finer Foods, Whole Foods, Ultra Foods and Pan's will be closed on Dec. 25. If you run out of milk or need an extra liter of soda or a bag of chips, 7-11 stores will be open 24-7 and all Walgreens stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CVS pharmacies will be closed.

And nothing's better to take the holiday edge than going to a movie. Here's what's showing at the Lake Theatre, 1022 Lake St. in Oak Park, (708) 848-9088.
