Man Finds Forgotten Lottery Ticket in His Wallet and It's a Winner
Berwyn man finds month-old, forgotten ticket while going through his wallet and learns he won $100,000.
A Chicago-area man has been carrying $100,000 in his wallet for a month in the form of a winning lottery ticket he’d completely forgotten.
Two days after his 23rd birthday, Michael Gonzalez of Berwyn bought a Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick ticket at Joe’s Liquors on Ogden Avenue. A month later, he came across the ticket in his wallet and asked a cashier to check the numbers, according to the Illinois Lottery. Lo and behold, he’d matched all five numbers in the Sept. 20 drawing. Gonzalez called his mom to share the good news.
“Since I am always joking around, my mom wouldn’t believe me,” Gonzalez said. “She kept calling me back asking me if I really won.”
