Another proverb that we heard growing up that has great applicability in life....
I don't know about you, but, I find that in my life, I want to do more for people who care about me, have my back, want to take care of me, give me support and encouragement. They are there to help me, share what they know, and, encourage me to do my best. Those are the people I will go out of my way for, and do 'the little' extra things for,
vs. those who demand things of me, point things out to me, tell me how busy they are, how much they do, and, in general view you as someone to provide a means to their end -- you start to feel like, "if it's not me who does it, they will find someone else...." Consequently, I don't go out of my way for them, I don't do ' the little' extra things for them. I do the basics and move on.
