This October, Oak Park Public Library celebrates two major milestones: 10 years in the award-winning Main Library building and 110 years as a public library in Oak Park. We invite you to join us in celebrating with a day of events at all library locations and an after-hours party at the Main Library on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Start out your celebration with daytime family fun. Outside the Main Library in beautiful Scoville Park: enjoy performances by story-performer Chris Fascione (10 am), musician Jim Gill (11 am) and a picnic with Caldecott award-winning artist Eric Rohmann (noon).
The fun continues at the branches with the magic of Gary Kantor at Dole Branch (1:30 pm), and "Lizards, Frogs, Turtles and More" with The Frog Lady at Maze Branch (3 pm). Both daytime branch events require registration as space is limited.

An after-hours party at the Main Library kicks off at 7 pm. This special evening includes live performances by The Boogers, playing rock & roll for kids (7:15 pm), and R-Gang, bringing you R&B, funk & soul from Motown into the 21st Century (8:15 pm). Explore the building while playing our Instagram scavenger hunt and visit the Art Gallery to see Literary Explorations, a community art exhibit showcasing literary themed works by local artists. Enjoy complimentary appetizers and sweets. A cash bar serving beer and wine will be available for guests 21+.
The celebration continues throughout the month of October with free concerts, author lectures, and more. Also in October, the return of Love Your Library brings the special offers at participating local businesses you've come to love, and a new library loyalty program rewarding your use with "tokens of our love."
