Youth Performing Arts Camp Offered at Concordia University Chicago

The camp will be held from June 8 to 12.

Concordia University Chicago will host “Performing Arts for Children,” a summer camp for children ages six through eleven. The camp will be held from June 8 through 12, with the opportunity to select between morning or afternoon half-day sessions.

The camp builds on the strengths of the university’s long-standing and successful music program. Attendees will explore music and movement, including simple choreography; and beginning drama, with a focus on expression, projection and volume through improv. The camp culminates in a live performance for parents. The performances will focus on the theme “fun times with nursery rhymes” and explore myriad popular childhood characters.

“Children attending this camp will tap into their imagination to combine singing, dancing and acting into summer fun that is good for their brains,” says Dr. Christian Hauser, camp instructor and professor of music education at Concordia-Chicago.

Registration is currently being accepted for summer camp sessions. Tuition is $150 and includes all materials. Each additional child from the same family can take advantage of a special $120 reduced family rate. Attendees do not need to have prior music or theater experience.
