• Ethan Wood dies in truck crash on Interstate 64 in St. Clair County (newsline.com) — A Glen Carbon man was killed when a semitrailer struck him along westbound Interstate 64 near mile marker 14, just outside O’Fallon in St. Clair County. Illinois State Police and the county coroner are still investigating the April 24 crash, while legal experts note that families in such cases sometimes pursue wrongful death claims to address financial and emotional impacts. 
• 2026 05/09 – James ‘Jim' Lane (southernillinoisnow.com) — An extended family with ties to O'Fallon is mourning James “Jim” Lane, a longtime Illinois railroad engineer and Navy veteran whose granddaughter Callie lives in O'Fallon. Services are being held today in Mount Vernon and Ina, where friends and relatives will gather to honor his life of service, family devotion, and community involvement.
• Theresa Westgate (riverbender.com) — O'Fallon is remembering Theresa “Trie” Westgate, a devoted mother of six, military spouse, and active member of the O'Fallon Y who passed away at home this week. Born in Michigan and later living in England and Maryland, she ultimately chose O'Fallon to be near family; private services and a future burial at Arlington National Cemetery are planned.
