High-Speed Chase Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash In Orland Park

There was one injury from a crash following a high-speed chase at an Orland Park intersection, according to police.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A high-speed chase led to a multi-car crash in Orland Park Thursday night, according to police.

The crash started with a traffic stop around 6:30 p.m. in the 7300 block of 159th Street, according to Orland Park Police. Police say the vehicle pulled into the Home Depot parking lot and stopped in the middle lane of traffic. The officer asked the driver to relocate to a safer area, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed, police say.

The pursuit continued through the parking lot and westbound on 159th Street. Police claim the driver committed several more traffic violations and ran a red light at 159th St. and 76th Ave. Police found the vehicle again in the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts at 8940 159th Street, but the vehicle fled around police cars and curbs to westbound 159th Street.

The multi-vehicle crash happened when the driver ran a red light at 159th and La Grange, striking numerous vehicles at the intersection, police say. Scanner reports indicated seven vehicles were involved in the crash. One person in the crash was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later. Police identified the driver as Quentin Taylor, 25, of Calumet City, Illinois, and charged him with several traffic violations, along with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, misdemeanor fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving with a revoked license and leaving the scene of an accident.
