'Targeted' Shooting In Orland Hills Still Under Investigation, Police Say

Police are withholding information pending the investigation, a spokesperson said.

ORLAND HILLS, IL — A "targeted" shooting in Orland Hills early Sunday remains under investigation, and police have not disclosed any additional information as of late Tuesday morning.

A call came in reporting shots fired around 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of 88th Avenue between 167th and 171st Street in Orland Hills.

Police late Monday said only that they believed the incident to be targeted and that there was no threat to the public.

In a release late Sunday morning, Tinley Park officers said they assisted Orland Hills police with the shots-fired report involving a person shot in the area of 167th Street and 88th Avenue, according to Tinley Park officials.

Orland Hills police have not confirmed that someone was shot. Calls to police have not been returned.

A release from Orland Hills Village Media Spokesman Ray Hanania said that police are still actively investigating the incident and "withholding information pending the investigation."

Police Chief Mike Blaha emphasized in the release that the community at large is not in any danger or jeopardy.

The section of 88th Avenue between 167th Street and 171st Street was closed for about 12 hours Sunday by the Emergency Team (ET) but was reopened late Sunday afternoon, Hanania said.
