Christmas Decorating Contest Winners Announced

Orland Park held its third Christmas House Decorating Contest, which was open to all residents of single family homes within the corporate limits of the village. Residents could choose the category they would like to compete.

The categories were: Nostalgic: Most old fashioned, best “reminds me of my childhood” display; Clark Griswold: Excessive use of outdoor lighting and decorations; Best Door/Entry: Most welcoming/best decorated entry way. The entries were judged and one winner was chosen in each category.

The 2101 winners are: Nostalgic: Jim and Donna Maday, 11708 Burnley Drive, Long Run Creek subdivision; Clark Griswold: Glen Pattin, 8711 W. 163rd St., Fernway Subdivision; Best Door/Entry: Mary and Al McDonald, 16710 Muirfield Drive, Muirfield subdivison.

Trustee Kathy Fenton said, “With so many houses in the village decorated during the holidays, we thought it would be fun to have people enter the contest and be recognized for their efforts.

"All of the houses entered are worth driving to see and I hope it encourages more people to enter the contest next year.”

For those who would like to see all of the houses entered in the contest, the addresses and subdivisions are: 17107 Ashwood Drive, Brook Hills; 17127 Hill Creek Court, Brook Hills; 10523 Owen Drive, Eagle Ridge Estates 1; 14601 Poplar Ct.; 14350 Maycliff Drive, Maycliff Estates; 10261 Hawthorne Drive; and 15708 Shire Drive, Equestrian Place.

“We’re very grateful to Bright Ideas Inc. for co-sponsoring this contest,” Fenton said. “Bright Ideas generously donated a 4-foot prelit Christmas wreath and two 7-foot prelit trees for the winners to choose from.”

The winners will be recognized at the Feb. 7 Board of Trustees meeting. Everyone who entered will receive a Certificate of Recognition.
