When choosing a babysitter, parents need a safe and responsible caretaker capable of making good decisions and handling emergency situations. Fortunately, Orland Township Health Services is hosting a Red Cross babysitting class this January, at which Township youth, ages 11 to 15, can learn these important skills.
The class, taught by a Red Cross-certified instructor, covers topics such as:
- How to care for infants and babies
- Making good decisions and solving problems
- Maintaining a safe environment
- What to do in the case of illnesses, injuries or other accidents
- Leadership skills
An upcoming session is scheduled for Monday, March 4, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The session includes a lunch break and food will be provided. The cost of the class is $50.
