Angry Orland Man Drags Mom from Car, Spits In Cops Face: Prosecutor
Orland Park police said man kept clearing his throat as he was being placed under arrest, so they put a spit hood on him.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- An Orland Park man was placed into a spit hood after he spat in a police officer’s face when he was being placed under arrest for dragging his mother from a car, prosecutors said. John Bradley, 25, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of aggravated battery against a police officer. Bradley is also facing misdemeanor charges for resisting arrest and domestic battery.
Orland Park police went to the 14400 block of 90th Court on Aug. 15 in response to a possible domestic battery taking place in a car. When officers arrived, a neighbor who lived near the home told police that a man, later identified as Bradley, was dragging a woman out of a vehicle, the prosecutor said.
Officers spoke to a woman identified as Bradley’s mother, who police said had red marks and dirty clothing consistent with being dragged on the ground. Bradley allegedly admitted to having an altercation with his mother. When the officer went to arrest Bradley, the prosecutor said Bradley fell flat on his stomach to the ground. When officers turned him over, Bradley allegedly cleared his throat and spit in an officer’s face. Police put a spit hood over Bradley’s head alleging that he continued to make a throat clearing sound.

Bradley has been accused in the past of slicing up his mother and threatening to cut her fingers off in February 2015. Later that year, he was arrested after he allegedly battered police during another domestic disturbance call involving his mother. An attorney for Bradley at that time stated most of the incidents were attributed to his mother’s “deteriorating mental condition.”
The prosecutor said Bradley currently has a pending fleeing and eluding police charge. He is also being held on a no-bail warrant for violating probation on a misdemeanor reckless conduct conviction that had been pled down from the 2015 felony aggravated domestic battery charge involving his mother.
“I find him to be a danger to himself, the community and to his mother,” Judge Felice said.
Bail was set at $50,000 for the pending fleeing and eluding case, and $150,000 for the new charge. Bradley’s next court date is Aug. 31 in Bridgeview.
