Democrats running for office in Nov. 6, 2018 General election invited, as well as candidates running in Spring 2019 local elections

The Arab American and Muslim American communities continue to grow and are becoming more and more involved in local elections. There are more than 78,000 active Arab American voters in just the Six County Chicagoland region, verified through voting records that we have compiled.

On Sunday, October 21, 2018, the Arab American Democratic Club will host its popular Candidate’s Brunch & Forum at Niko’s Restaurant, 7600 S. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview. ALL of the Democratic Candidates who are running for elective office, and officials, are urged to attend. All government officials, candidates for public office and community leaders are invited to attend. They want you there.

The Candidate’s Brunch & Forum is the largest event in the Arab American community, attracting 400 to 500 voters at each event. No other organization comes close to engaging Arab American Voters more effectively than the Arab American Democratic Club.

"Arab Americans are NOT asking candidates to take a position on the complex and difficult issues of the Middle East. We ARE asking that candidates and elected officials keep their doors open to the Arab American community and hear their views," Executive Director Samir Khalill said in a release this week.

"Arab Americans are engaged in all of the same issues that face all residents in Illinois from jobs and the economy, to fighting crime and improving education. Arab Americans want our elected officials and government leaders to be aware of their views and concerns. Arab Americans want to participate and all they ask is that officials keep their doors open to the community to hear their views, allow them to participate in government, and consider the Arab American community when positions become available."

Khalil added, "Arab Americans are proud Americans. Many of our community members have served honorably and patriotically to defend this country in all of the past wars going back to World War I and in all of the different armed forces. Arab Americans are business people, homeowners, Christian and Muslim, seniors, young and old, and active, educated voters."

The Brunch & Forum on Oct. 21, 2018 will give every elected official, candidate for public office, organizational activist and community leader an opportunity to learn about the Arab American community and help us engage them as voters concerned about the future of America.
