Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School 'Back The Blue Day'

Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School hosted a Back the Blue Day to support Officer Yanez and Orland Hills Police.

ORLAND HILLS, IL – Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School (CJB) Student Council held a "Back the Blue Day" in support of local law enforcement officers. CJB students, faculty, and staff raised money for Chicago Police Officer Carlos Yanez, who was critically injured in a traffic stop that killed his partner Ella French.

Students were asked to dress in blue and donate at least $1.00. Instead, many donated much more for Officer Yanez, as the students raised an incredible $1,656.00! CJB Student Council members also treated the Orland Hills Police Department to breakfast to thank them for all that they do for the community. The money the students donated will go directly to the Yanez family.

"It was so great to see the CJB community come together to support Officer Yanez and the Orland Hills Police Department," CJB principal Kelly Bourrell said. "We will continue to pray for Officer Yanez and all of our police officers."
