Cardinal Joseph Bernardin School Creates It 'Takes a Village'

In an exciting initiative that blends education, creativity, and community spirit, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School has partnered with the Village of Orland Park to create a vibrant art installation, titled “It Takes A Village.” The students used recycled cardboard and transformed it into whimsical houses. Each house is different than the other, representing how differences are needed within a community. It also demonstrates the need for everyone to contribute and nurture a village.

The exhibit is a collaboration that began last year. In a conversation, Jean Petrow, the Division Manager at the Village of Orland Park, and Jaime Maisuria, the Director of Social and Emotional Learning at Cardinal Joseph Bernardin and artist, saw an opportunity to engage the students and create something for the Orland Park community.

The art exhibit “It Takes a Village” can be viewed at the entrance of the Franklin Loebe Recreation Center, located at 14650 S Ravinia Ave, Orland Park.
