Chicago Heights Man Packs Loaded Pistol In Car: Police

Chicago Heights was pulled over for traffic violations when Orland Park cops found loaded pistol, prosecutor said.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A Chicago Heights man was arrested after police found loaded gun in his car during a traffic stop, prosecutors said. Jonathan Martinez, 19, appeared before Cook County Judge Michael Kane on a charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Martinez is also charged with traffic violations.

Orland Park police found a loaded H&R 22-caliber revolver in Martinez’s car May 30, prosecutors said. Kane asked Martinez’s mother to sand in the middle of the courtroom. She told the judge her son lives with her and works at Dunkin Donuts.

“I don’t give I-bonds on gun cases,” Kane said.

Bail was set at $10,000, He was also placed on electronic home monitoring.

“You can work but you have to stay home,” the judge said.

Martinez is due back in court June 27.
