Church Addresses Concerns Over Homeless Shelter In Orland Park
Hope Covenant Church Pastor Jon Fogel talks more about the operations behind their Tuesday night homeless shelter.
ORLAND PARK, IL — The first homeless shelter in Orland Park in more than 30 years is now open on Tuesday nights at Hope Covenant Church on West Avenue. Hope Pastor Jon Fogel has created a video talking in more detail about the shelter, addressing a few concerns and clarifying a few misconceptions that came from members of the community after hearing about the project.

"We want to be a good neighbor to everyone in our community," Fogel said in the video, which can be watched below. "We believe every human being is deserving of dignity and respect."

Part of being a good neighbor, Fogel said, is "doing our due diligence to make sure our children are safe."
"Beds Plus (the organization partnering with Hope on opening the weekly shelter) does a wonderful job doing criminal background checks on residents at their shelters," Fogel said. "They all have a photo ID so we know who every person in the shelter is."
