Community Event Planned to Provide Affordable Prom Dresses to Local High School Teens

A “Pay Your Fashion Forward” community event has been organized to assist local area high school teen girls who may not have the means to spend a great deal of money on prom dresses. Due to the support of our community and local dress retailers, these teens will have an opportunity to come and shop gently used formal dresses at affordable prices on February 25, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the at The Pretty in Pink Boutique pop-up shop at Faith United Methodist Church in Orland Park.

The core mission of this event is to distribute formal dresses to girls with financial need so that they may attend their formal dances in style. “I would hate to see a teenage girl miss such a great occasion like their prom because they didn’t have a beautiful dress to wear,” says event organizer, Amanda Steenvoorden. “There are so many dresses that were worn once or twice and then are left hanging in a closest somewhere. Let’s pay that fashion forward!” Local teen girls are encouraged to find gently used but beautiful and stylish prom dresses and accessories. All dresses at the event will range from $25-$50.00. Financial assistance will be available for those in need.

Dress donations needed and are currently being accepted until Wednesday, February 1, 2017. All dresses and accessories should be new or considerately used. All sizes are welcomed. Plus size dresses are more limited in their availability and are especially needed.
