Community Honda of Orland Park is a True Member of the Community Donating to Help Children and Teens Battling Cancer

Community Honda of Orland Park believes in helping to ultimately support children and teens fighting cancer. The Orland Park based Honda Dealership donated $3620, $480 in gift cards and toys to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (POTCF).

Community Honda of Orland Park is family owned and operated and has been a trusted automotive resource center since opening in 1975. The new and used Honda dealership offers purchase, lease, finance, trade-in options as well as automotive services.

Community Honda of Orland Park Owner Tom Wehmeier said, “American Honda has a company initiative to involve dealerships with local not-for-profit organizations. The staff at Community Honda believes in donating for the children of this area and to help benefit kids who have cancer.”

Sales Manager Susan Jimenez said it best in referring to the Treasure Chest Foundation, “We always wanted to do something for children. The Treasure Chest Foundation helps children and teens with cancer making the charity an instant connection.”

Treasure Chest Foundation CEO and Founder Colleen Kisel said, “We feel so grateful to have the support of Community Honda of Orland Park. Their donation will help to benefit the children and teens who endure years and years of unending cancer treatments by rewarding the kids with a toy, gift or gift card after every procedure.”

The POTCF is a unique organization whose services impact more than 13,000 young cancer patients enduring 20,000 clinic visits each month in 19 states across the nation. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain, noting that when children are diagnosed with cancer their world soon becomes filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin celebrated his 25th anniversary of remission from the disease earlier this year.
