Convicted Sex Predator Accused of Registering Fake Orland Park Address

The prosecutor said when police went to check the address on his sex offender registration, a resident said no such person lived there.

COOK COUNTY, IL -- A convicted sex predator was arrested for allegedly giving a fake address in Orland Park when updating his sex offender registration. He was arrested by Cook County Sheriff's Police, prosecutors said.

Robert Campbell, 46, appeared before Cook County Judge John Gallagher on a felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender. He is also facing a misdemeanor theft charge.

The prosecutor said Campbell updated his registration on April 17. According to records, he indicated his address was in the 11800 block of West 159th Street in Orland Park. When police did an address check, they were told by the resident that no such person lived at the address.

Campbell also appeared on a misdemeanor theft charge. A woman alleges that Campbell stole her son’s Mac Air Book from her residence.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Campbell works as a landscaper and is a self-employed handyman.

Campbell has prior convictions for burglary, robbery and theft dating back to 1996. He was convicted of criminal sexual assault. The victim was 4 and Campbell was 25 at the time of the offense.

Bail was set at $10,000. Campbell is due back in court May 23 in Bridgeview.
